Every year Grandma Diane comes to visit Colorado and takes everyone skiing. This year we went to Winter Park. We had a great time staying right on the mountain. This year was the first year Asher tried ski school. He did a great job! I wasn’t sure because he had a nasty cough, but he was excited about his ski gear, especially the new long underwear and goggles Grandma got him. Off he went! Mom and I “spied” on him as we watched him ride the “magic carpet” and attempt to ski down all by himself. He did get a bit sad when he ran into a kid that was just plopped down on the slope. I wanted to go save him but knew if he saw me his day would be over. So, I trusted that the ski instructors would take care of him and walked away hearing him cry and the instructor saying, “Asher, you did a great job…” I knew he would be okay. At the end of the day he reported that he had fun at ski school and would go again. What did Ezra do? He had fun looking out our condo window and playing in the snow. Thanks mom for another great ski trip!!

“I love the hearts so much,” said Asher about our Valentine’s Day heart tree. We all love our family and friends!!

We had so much fun cross country skiing with friends at the Breckenridge Nordic Center. It was such a beautiful day, great work out, and very peaceful. And despite the awful traffic there and on the way home, it was well worth it. Asher wanted to try skiing and he did such a great job. I’m thinking this might be a new New Year’s tradition.

Ezra turned one on the 28th of December. We celebrated with Grandma and Grandpa Henninger, Uncle Mark and Aunt Sara, and friends Renae, Jason, and Simon. I felt sentimental and relieved, as well as an anticipation of what is yet to come. I felt the same way around Asher’s 1st birthday. Ezra enjoyed the snacks of cheerios and sweet potato puffs as well as his guests and presents. He wasn’t so much into everyone singing to him nor the carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. Oh, well. He was still such a delight and we all love this little guy so much. It was a sweet, simple party.
p.s. i made the birthday garland hanging up. thank you, courtney for your help. i followed the directions in one of my favorite creative parenting books, the creative family by amanda blake soule.

Since we’ve moved to Colorado, we have been joining Uncle Mark, Aunt Sara and friends to chop down our Christmas Tree. We start out at Mark and Sara’s house and they always bless everyone with a yummy breakfast. Then we drive to a beautiful forested area that is owned by Mark’s work and we all scatter to look for a tree. Chainsaws, axes, and other tools are present and always make an impression on Asher. This year Asher brought his own “chainsaw” to join in on the action. Tree Day did have a twist this year. Our friend Adam cut his foot with an axe while chopping his tree. Poor Adam! Asher did see the wounded foot and ever since he has continuously acted out the injury, said prayers for Adam’s foot, and told numerous amount of people what happened. Thankfully, Adam’s foot has healed. Tree Day, always a memorable time.
